JUNIOR AND SENIOR INFANTS Teacher’s instructions – Lesson 1
THE EU FLAG
For this activity, you have three options:
- Each child is asked to colour in the EU flag with the correct colours as learnt during the lesson.
The flag assembly game:
a. You distribute to each table a set of three A4 or A5 coloured cards: one royal blue (EU blue
or as close as possible), one orange and one green.
b. You cut out the stars below and put 15 in envelopes, one envelope per table.
c. Ask the children to assemble the European flag.
Alternatively, you can use yellow star stickers.
To make it more difficult, you can also have three sets of envelopes for each table with stars in one
envelope, triangles in another and circles in the final one.
Children need to complete the three steps below to complete the game:
They need to pick the right background colour
They need to know that there are 12 stars on the flag
They need to assemble the stars in a circle
