Primary and secondary schools performed amazing songs on key European values at the heart of Irish society. They truly impressed the audience. The day was hosted by Dr Aodh Quinlivan, who acted as Master of Ceremony and coordinated the event throughout the day.
EU Treasure Hunt
An EU-themed treasure hunt was organised for 27 teams of four participants: two aged 13 and over (including at least one participant aged 18+) and two aged 12 and under. Teams solved 27 clues across the City of Cork.
The winning team received a weekend trip to a European city, including flights and accommodation, sponsored by Cork Airport and Cork City Council.
School performances
Primary school children created their own lyrics based on EU values such as solidarity, equality, freedom, non-discrimination and human rights. Secondary school students composed both the music and the lyrics on the same themes.
Performances included:
- Nagle Community College
- Scoil Naomh Eltin, performing live on the Cork Concert Hall stage
- 3rd and 4th class of Scoil Maria Assumpta, who performed a rap about EU values
